WyoBC
I was playing with him down stairs tonight with his rope toy, but when I threw it, it went over his head so he snapped in the air to grab it. Some of the hairy stuff on the end must have hit his eye because right after he jumped up he whimpered and cowred down. I called him over to see if he was ok and to tell him I didn't mean to hit him (since he still has that phobia) and he was holding his right eye closed. After a few minutes he opened it some but he's still squinting most of the time. His eye doesn't look scratched and it's not swelled up or anyhting. Do you think it's ok? I'll probably wait until morning and see if it's better, if not I'll make a trip to the vet. But I thought I would see what you guys thought about it. Poor guy, I feel really bad for hurting him even though I didn't mean to
smileyzookie
You may feel bad about hurting him, but dont let it get the best of you!! He knows your intentions Im sure! I'd say he'll probably be ok, just keep an eye on it. Dont stress too much, just see how it looks in the morning. Give him a kiss for Riven lol
Anda
He should be ok. Just check on him in the morning. I don't know how many times Ouzo got hurt by shoving his head under the couch or bumping into things (us included), or how many times he knocked us in the eye with his toys Hope Black Jack will be perfectly healthy in the morning and he can return the favor and bang you in the eye with his toy You'll know it's all in the name of love! P.S. Just this evening my dog turned his head out of a sudden and banged his teeth in my chin. He then proceeded to deeply applogize and lick my face and step on me during the process (hurting me more, of course, but I couldn't help laughing at how guilty he felt )
rosefarm
Hope he's feeling better this morning, we've done that here too, usually gone after an hour or 2. Though squinty eyes make me feel TERRIBLE. Anda, we have the same thing happen here. Lily leaped up open mouth and jammed her teeth in my chin. Lily felt so bad. Of course my dog hating mom saw it and things I have a face biter and keeps making references to "have you worked on her biting people in the face" yet. Sigh - this dog is sooo aware of trying to not hurt. Just reminded me --Denise
bc4pack
Always a good time to have a first-aid kit made up.Ck with your vet and get some stuff to flush out eyes...good to keep on hand. There are plenty of kits out there or you can make up your own... Allie Oop
Hope Black Jack's eye is better today. If not, I'd be off for the vet to have it checked. It might be just a scratch or a piece of debris. A mild saline solution (like the kind you use with contact lenses) is always good for flushing eyes free of foreign objects. Good luck! WyoBC
Thanks guys. He's all better today. I'm so glad it's ok. I was really worried, but I worry about every little thing anyway.

Aerie
I'm glad Mr. Black Jack is feeling better. I keep an extra bottle of saline around for Recon - she's always flipping toys around her head and getting stuff in her eyes. She's done it so often that she knows to immediately come over to me and I'll squirt some saline in there and we're good to go. And now I must go save my poor dog from the Beasty Bean. smileyzookie
LOL our old vet called us Worrywart Martinez (our last name is Martinez lol) -- trust me you arent the only ones who worry constantly lol
SincereArtisan
Worry? Don't we all? I spend half my day soothing owners leaving their dogs for the first time boarding with us, or a day of daycare...really, the best advice is NOT to worry, and NOT to make a big deal out of it in front of your dog, because the more worried YOU are, the more worried and stressed THEY get, LoL, precious things.....
