Dixie_Girl
Sheryl, (Dal and Mad's mom), took Cooper and Sam to get neutered and stopped at a shelter. They had a VERY preg girl there. Though it was a nice shelter, she did not think it a good place for pups to be born. So, she took her home. Her name is Genie. Sheryl took Genie to the vet yesterday and with x-rays, he said to expect 5 pups and they would come at any time. I guess this morning was any time! So far there is 4 pups, all female. 3 are a peach color with white socks. Some have white on their face. One is B/W with socks. None have white collars. We are thinking the pups daddy was an aussie as some of the pups have been born tailess, and one has a in-between tail. So far, the 5th one is being stubborn! Probly the only male! LOL I will keep you updated as Sheryl STILL can't get on the boards! The story on Genie is that she was a ranch dog, but kept running off and the owner had enough. juliepoudrier
The story on Genie is that she was a ranch dog, but kept running off and the owner had enough. Hmmm...she probably kept running off because she was in heat and looking for some action! She's better off where she is now, and kudos to Sheryl for taking her and five puppies on. That's a lot of work, but it's good they weren't born in a shelter--too many nasties they could contract there. I hope she sends you pictures to post! (I hope the farmer doesn't go out and get a replacement or no doubt Sheryl will be pulling that dog at some later date...). J.

Kat's Dogs
I saw the pictures!! So cute!! Are they going to take her back to the shelter with her pups or just keep fostering them - all of them?
Beth G
So wonderful that she took the mama dog in. Sounds like just in time too! Good thing the mama held out until she got a home. They seem to know when they are safe enough to have the pups.
WyoBC
That's cool. I guess it was meant to be. I'm glad they weren't born in the shelter. That's a bad way to start. They do know when it's safe. I guess she knew. I'm going to go see the pics now. Congrats.
Allie Oop
Good for you, Sheryl! What a wonderful thing to do. Thanks for sharing, Dixie Girl.
Dixie_Girl
Kat-Sheryl is keeping them till they are old enough to be adopted! She is working with another rescue person experienced in placing puppies. Then of course, mama will be up for adoption too as soon as she can be spayed. The vet Sheryl took her to said this was not her first litter so Sheryl says it can be her last! Will keep y'all up dated until Sheryl can finally get back on the board! Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts!
bc friend
The vet Sheryl took her to said this was not her first litter so Sheryl says it can be her last! And her prior owner wondered why Genie kept running away! RANT: Idiots who keep intact dogs and then don't expect them to follow their reproductive instincts! Genie is in a far better home now thanks to Sheryl!
KrisK
How are the little ones doing? All's well I hope! Sheryl certainly has her hands full by the looks of it!
