Debbie Crowder-BaaramuLuke Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I just want to thank the wonderful folks at the trial last weekend, Craig and Joan Rogers, and Ellen Brown and all her volunteers, for a really fine weekend of trialing. It was fun and challenging stock work, a bit of the woolies for me (I love the wool sheep) and great hair sheep for the novice field, a gorgeous setting and great hospitality. I loved the after-dinner introductions--I had no idea there were brain and heart surgeons, lots of pet professionals, and corporate types, educational types, agricultural folks, students, ALL KINDS of people into the dogs! I look forward to the fall trial, it should be a real good one. It was a wonderful place for a trial, out in the middle of beautiful nowhere with a WalMart ten minutes away (had a fun supper there Friday night getting one of my many bags of ice). Saturday night after the dinner I took a scenic drive a half hour west to see a drop-dead fantastic sunset over Lover's Leap wayside, got "home" in time to settle off to sleep with the hum of the generators and folks talking and laughing in the dark. Sweet! I hope everyone who comes will give a few minutes to thank the Reynolds Homestead people and let them know their efforts are appreciated, and those who want to come learn more about trialing, come volunteer for one of the many duties that need to be covered to have trials that people don't mind hosting for us. Thanks to all who pitched in last weekend. I, for one, had a real good time. Quote
laurie etc Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 I thought it was a very fun, well run trial as well. The Roger's farm is beautiful, with true Southern Hospiltality. Plus Reynolds Homestead's Ellen is a hoot! Sunday morning, it was so quiet - I realized that most of the friendly "R.H. volunteers" were at church - so I took over Pro-Novice Scores- hope I didn't screw anything up to badly. I didn't stay for the ribbons after I ran my dogs in Novice (5 hour drive and dogs to tend to at home). Quote
Carson Crazies Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 I had an absolute ball! The farm was beautiful, the weather entertaining, and the sheep were fun. We only participated in the fun runs, for which I truly appreciate. I suppose if you're going to have a train wreck, its slightly less humiliating to do so when you're not being judged. The Rogers' hospitality was great, and we just had an all around good time - thank you very much. The Reynolds Homestead folks were fantastic, and I felt very welcome at the trial. It was very well run! It was great to meet you Laurie! Too bad we had to make it a day trip, but it was nice anyway. Quote
Pipedream Farm Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 **sigh** hated to miss that one. Craig had actually asked Mark and I awhile back if we would judge the novice classes. We couldn't go because Peg was expecting pups then. I can see it now, everyone in novice would have a perfect score because I'd be too distracted thinking about Peg to pay any attention to what was going on. It is just beautiful down there. How about some results???? Renee Quote
Deacon Dog Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 Fun trial. The Rogers, Homestead people, set-out crews and other volunteers did a great job. It was nice getting to meet Debbie & Laurie from the boards. Quote
Debbie Crowder-BaaramuLuke Posted August 3, 2006 Author Report Posted August 3, 2006 Likewise, Tony. Wish I'd had more time to hang out with more people than Jason and all those woolies, but that's the way it is. I enjoyed working with him and it was fun to have the other field next door beyond the pond and listen to all the fun they were having too. Quote

Carson and Donna Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 Let me first thank Craig and Joan for hosting the event. I can only imagine how taxing it must be to invite the world into your home and to host such an event. You?re an inspiration and a true asset to the community. Next to all the volunteers that helped out in making the trail work and to the RH Volunteers that pitched in and gave a helping hand, I want to say thanks to you also. Such an event could not take place without your assistance and help. To all the folks that we met I would like to say thanks to you for your open arms welcome and making our first trail an unforgettable event. Donna and I both learned a ton and without your willingness to share the knowledge you have that would not have happened so a special thanks goes out to you. Even though I had them with me this trip and chose not to ware them, I think I will ware my boots in October Quote
Debbie Crowder-BaaramuLuke Posted August 6, 2006 Author Report Posted August 6, 2006 How'd you get the sheep not to step on your toes? I wear steel toed boots when not in super-muck. You're good, you gotta gift, you... Quote
Carson and Donna Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006  I got stepped on plenty I assure you but was well worth the experience   Maybe that explains the swelling in my feet on Sunday morning  Quote
