shelb'smum
If you find a puppy wondering the streets. Find its owners, and they refuse him. I found a CUTE lil puppy roaming around. I looked on CL to see if any posted a lost dog. WHAT I FOUND: a Free Puppy add. I called them and they wouldn't take him back. So now I have this puppy that I technically can't have quite yet. That is staying at work till I can find a way to tell my Fiance that I am bringing home another dog. (BTW I am at work ATM{not working of course}) But the owners DID tell me: he is UTD on all shots. about 15 weeks old. that their kid brought him home W/O asking. he's really sweet. Looks like a Brindle lab
bc friend
I actually had this happen a few years ago with an adult dog. I found a cocker wandering a busy street who was microchipped. When his owners were called, they told me just to keep him or take him to a shelter - they didn't want him anymore! My vet found him a home with one of her clients who had cockers. nancy
If you don't want to even out the dog to cat ratio, see if there's a lab rescue in the area. Or a generic rescue. Or ask your vet - then every area vet - if they might find a home. Heck, that's how my in-laws got a great dog; the vet called and asked if they were ready for a new one (the most recent had died). This is how I've acquired a dog and 2 cats over the years - vets (and their techs) always seem to know which of their clients are "easy touches" for certain breeds or work w/rescues! lol
