kerry99
Hi to everyone out there, I look forward to a long and happy friendship with you all. I have a rescue pup who is 9 weeks old and she is utterly adorable When I intially rang the rescue centre they told me they had a litter of unwanted "collies" that had come in that day. Having searched for a puppy/young dog for several weeks I couldn`t believe my luck. We rushed over, saw her, fell in love and took her home there and then When I took her for her first vacs the vet advised me that she was unlikely to be a true Collie due her being in a rescue centre and an unwanted litter. I dont mind a bit whether she is a true Collie or not (although she does look very much like one) but the problem I have is do I train her as a collie or just as a `normal dog` I ask this because reading some of your posts a Collie needs to be trained in a certain way and I would like to get it right. Anda
Foo, you're back! I was starting to worry what happened to you!
fooshuman
That dreaded beast, grasped ahold of me and dragged me into the nether region! I struggled to free myself to no avail! What foul beast do i speak of!? WORK!! We had a lay-off so my work load has doubled, I was lucky today and woke up at 3 a.m. and was at work by 3:30! I wont do that again although it was nice to be home by 6 p.m. My pooperz would be crated most the day if Mum didn't take them for the day. I have to admit she has helped me a ton thesew past few weeks! I miss you all, but usually after i eat and shower the dogs get me until sleepy time. Anda
3.30 AM to 6 PM, man, that sucks, big time! How's Hope? You still foster her? Sorry to take over the thread, Kerry
fooshuman
Hope is doing great! She is ready to be put up onto the Mo_kan board. I just need to get motivated and write up her Bio and take some adorable photos of her! (that should be easy now that she has hair!) I'm honestly in no hurry to adopt her off. Even with all her quirks, she is such a great dog to have around. If you enjoy the company of trouble that is! I'll be posting some pictures and a copy of her BIO so my fellow BORDIES can critique it b4 I send it to be posted on the Mo_Kan web site. *edit* As an after thought we should have taken this into private Sorry Kerry for hi-jacking your thread. *Foo heads for his crate*
bc friend
Kerry - welcome to the Board. As for training your pup, I've initially trained all of my puppies the same way - I do think the bc pups to "get it" faster than some of the other breeds. Once the pups are more adolescent than babies, I shape my training to the particular dog - some dogs are soft, some stubborn, etc.
