juliepoudrier
Thanks Becca. Just goes to show my ignorance of the whole process, huh? J.
Eileen Stein
I'm pretty sure the intact ILPs from before recognition were grandfathered in -- they COULD "upgrade" to full registration, provided they met the registration and pedigree requirements, but they didn't have to. If they were going to apply for full registration, I'm sure they did it long ago. Neutered dogs ARE eligible for registration. They aren't eligible to be shown in the breed ring, which is probably what you're thinking of, Julie. To put Karen's point more simply, AKC is probably looking at how many registrations came in from the outside through open registration, rather than the total number of new registrations, which would include not only show imports but pups born to dogs already AKC registered.
