Deb, I would like to come to be a spectator and not trial. My BC boy Phoenix and his sister Amica are 1 yr old and have never done any herding training as of yet, nor have they been exposed (except for the farm they were born on).

What are your regulations concerning visitors?

I had contacted you about a month ago about possible herding training and am excited to see you post on these boards, so I would love to come visit meet you and watch a trial.

Thanks so much

Deb's been real busy lately - I won't tell you who she works for!

Forget about just spectating - come and volunteer!!! You will learn much more than just watching. Keepstone will have lots of nice friendly folks. You may get to meet these folks from the boards - Mark and Renee Billadeau (unless they spend the weekend with family further south), Deb Pelletier, Laurie Anderson, Julie Poudrier (unless she's elsewhere), Sue Asten, Deb Mickey, and others. There is a trial further south in VA or you might meet a bunch more of the board regulars!

Regulations concerning visitors??? Come in, park politely, keep your dog on lead or at your car, pick up your poop, don't disturb anyone during their run, wait to talk to folks when it's not near their run time, etc.

Oh, bring a chair, dress in layers, and find let Deb know you'd like to help. There is no one they treat better than a volunteer, and you don't need any experience at all to help with some things - you'll get on-the-job training!

Hope to see you there!

Yes - anyone is more than welcome to come and watch and ask questions. Hope the weather is as nice as this past weekend.

If you emailed me about training I hope I replied and directed you to a trainer - don't want you to think I'm anywhere close to that nor will I ever be. I was extremely happy just to get through the Ranch level course both days!

We will put anyone who volunteers to work! Clerking, grabbing score sheets from the clerks and checking/posting the scores etc. are jobs that anyone can do and are a real help. Come find me and I'll keep you busy

Hey, Deb, will you let Celt and myself work in the pens again? Please?

By the way, Hope had a wonderful time scribing. Other than freezing (and needing a trip to the portajohn), she had the best time ever! Next time (she can't be there for Thanksgiving, though), she'll dress better for the job!

Yes you may work in the pens! Tell Susan. She's in charge of the crew people, but I KNOW she'll want you to do it.

Hope should have told me she was so cold and I would have found a bigger coat/blanket whatever. That field was colder than anywhere else on the farm. I did bring her and the judge some coffee so I hope that helped (although not with the potty situation!) It was much warmer on Sunday.

You all were a great help and it was so appreciated. The crew makes the trial.

Deb - As I told Hope, your bringing the hot coffee was a relief from the cold, but a contributor to the potty problem! Whenever you have to just sit, you will quickly get chilled clear through. She's eager to try it again the next time she can!

I told her that volunteers are well taken care of and, if she needs a break, she needs to say so - everything will stop until she's ready to go again! She's just too sweet and humble to rock the boat.

I will email Susan about helping. I am very grateful that I can help and learn. I may be a poor handler on the trial field, but I can (hopefully) learn to work in the pens!

Ok thanks, I will be there, but I don't know about bringing Phoenix. Neither of us have ever been to a trial and I am afraid he will be mouthy, plus we are having some on leash aggression issues with strangers and sometimes other dogs! although I can settle him pretty quickly, and I know I would be with people who know the BC's quirky little attitudes. LOL!!!

I will only be able to come Sunday, I work Saturday, so I hope to meet some board folks.

See ya then.

I'll miss you, JoeAnne, as I'll be there Saturday only.

If you want to volunteer and not worry about Phoenix, just leave him home. Otherwise, if he's good in the car or tied up, you can bring him, do a little socializing, let him chill at the car a while, etc.

You should meet several folks from the boards on Sunday and I'm sure they will be pleased to meet you.

I'd like to come up one day and help out as well.

At the moment though, Im not sure which day. Mike will be working on Thanksgiving so we will be celebrating on a different day. Probably Friday, which should work out ok, but the rest of the family might want to do it on the weekend. Id like to come to the trial on Saturday.

Either way, you can count on me to be there at some point.
