jrid
My young border collie pulled most of his tail hair out when he got bored last spring. I solved his boredom by putting him in the same kennel run (10 x 30) as my other male border collie. They play with each other during the day while I am at work. Liz P
A 10 year old dog needs a full exam by a vet first. If there have been no changes in routine or diet I would suspect a medical problem like dropping levels of thyroid hormone.
Beth G
I agree. Also it might be boredom. That and you might want to check for allergies? Mine does that when she eats wheat or corn because she is itchy. Also some dogs do that due to anxiety. Has any major change occured recently in her life? Lisa Smith
Deuce pulls hair out of her tail or just chews the white tip off her tail when I leave her alone too much....I think it's just boredom...Vet checked her and there's no inflamation and it doesn't seem to be itchy. She never chews it while someone is around just when she's left alone. I fill her kong toys and leave her a bully stick and those seem to keep her occupied while I'm gone now.
