BCMomma
Hi - New member here. We have two BC's - one is 10 and the other 7. The younger one, Lili, is in the animal hospital now with what they believe to be GME - a brain disease. I've read on-line all the details and our Doctor is wonderful and thorough but nothing like advice from others. Lili has always been our special girl. She started young with the spinning and sleeps with a toy in her mouth. She is constant motion and just breaks my heart to see her so unbalanced and sleep all the time. They are starting a low-dose of prednisone and will do further testing to see if she needs a higher dose or not. She's had a full workup of tests - MRI, blood, etc. Waiting on the results from the fluid they removed from behind her brain. Just checking to see if anyone out there has had this - we just want to keep her comfortable for however long she has. Thanks.
MaggieDog
A friend of mine knew a dog w/ GME I believe. It was localized, and it's been 5 years since the diagnosis and he's still going strong. Perhaps you could post the full name of the disorder since abbreviations can look similar. BCMomma
Thanks for the suggestion: it is Granulomatous Meningoencephalitis. Still awaiting all the results but have seen where the dog can survive anywhere from 4 days to 2 years. It just depends on the type and that's what we are waiting to find out from all the tests. Thanks again.
