Eye color

You are especially likely to find "mismatched" eyes and even parts of one color in the other eye (like your pup with what appears to be a spot of blue in his brown eye) in merle dogs. In black and white dogs, you will find dogs with one blue eye and one brown, but you usually won't find both colors in one eye. Your pup's eyes are perfectly normal, at least colorwise (can't say about inherited eye problems like CEA, but that has nothing to do with color anyway).

There's a very strong prejudice against this characteristic among the old timers, but I'm inclined to believe that for once there's no real basis for it. Merle itself is not well received (although it was pretty common 100 years ago), so maybe that's part of it.

I personally wish the merle lines hadn't faded away - I've always found blue merle tri dogs perfectly luscious to look at and I have a secret daydream of working with one someday. Maybe the pendulum will start swinging the other way and the merles will rise again - properly bred, of course.

I believe that in humans it was found that people with blue eyes sometimes have trouble seeing in bright sunlight.

I happen to like blue eyed BCs, though I think green is my favorite eye color. I find that red dogs with green eyes are particularly striking.
