katendarby Posted April 28, 2006 Report Share Posted April 28, 2006 Is it common for dogs to get sore throats? Sometimes both of mine will hack like they're trying to expel mucous. It's not a cough, and it's not a gag - but more of a sharp, hack and if they had lips, it would be like they would spit! They sound really hoarse when they do it, like they have a sore throat. I usually just make sure they keep their fluids up and make sure they don't have any choking episodes and it seems to clear up on its own.
