sea4th
Tibbie is out of surgery. The big mass was removed and we're having it biopsied. The surgery was a little more involved because 3 smaller masses were found, 2 of which were also removed from the other side, so the poor old girl must be feeling a little like a patchwork quilt about now. Preop testing showed a heart arrythmia, but the doc said she didn't feel it was anything that would warrant putting off the surgery. Tib also had it last year when she was spayed. We've got a prescription for Tramadol - my vet liked and agreed with an alternative to Rimadyl. So Tibbie comes home this afternoon. We might even try a walk this weekend. Thanks for all your support, suggestions and prayers. Tibbie---the last of my Golden Girls.

Carson Crazies
Saying some prayers for you and Tibbie. Wishing Tibbie a speedy recovery!
muggs
Great to hear she came through her surgery. I hope she has a quick and painfree as possible recovery! It reminds me of when Levi was neutered at 13 with a testicular tumor - not nearly as serious as Tibbie's- and picking him up afterward, loopy from the anesthesia, but still wagging his tail. They are just sooo sweet when they get old.

sea4th
Tib is home. Her underside is a bright criss cross of red sutures. My vet said the entire procedure was done with laser. As a matter of fact, she says she rarely uses a scalpel anymore. She said she used a scalpel to cut a section off the mass to send in for the biopsy----other than that, she does everything by laser. Because of gravity pull and vascular involvement (feeding the tumor?), is the reason it was as big as it was. We can expect swelling pulling the suturing taught, and then the worst should be behind us. Tib says "Rowf Rowf" -- that's Tib talk for Thank you! for all your well wishes. (She has a Louis Armstrong voice, and Marty Feldman eyes. )
Tassie
OMG - that's a mind-boggler for you - Louis Armstrong voice and Marty Feldman eyes????? We gotta see a pic. Seriously, it's great to hear that Tibbie is through surgery and home - sending good downunder wishes for a good recovery. You must be pleased you have a vet who is prepared to discuss issues and consider suggestions - that's my sort of vet.
