Barb Scott
Our 7 and 1/2 month old (still a puppy) has started drooling more than usual. I checked her mouth and throat to make sure nothing was stuck, then had our vet check her also; he didn't think there was anything wrong. She hasn't eaten any plants oe gotten into any chemicals. Is drooling a sign of any type of border collie disorder that I haven't heard of yet? Thanks, Barb Scott
juliepoudrier
Hi Barb, There are certain plants (don't know what they are) at certain times of the year (usually spring) that will cause my dogs to drool or foam. I don't know what the plants are because I have never investigated. I just happened to note that as I was walking my dogs (in a grassy area) that a number started drooling/foaming. And it happens periodically, but doesn't continue beyond a minute or so. Like you, I would have taken the dog to the vet. If it doesn't clear up soon, I think I would go back to the vet and see if s/he can't do a more thorough check of the throat. Is your pup eating and acting okay otherwise? J. Sue R
Just a thought: with the advent of hot, muggy weather here, my one dog tends to "drip" a bit off the tip of his tongue as he pants while the other doesn't. Is your puppy just panting and being a little sloppy like my boy, perhaps? Hey Julie, hope you are feeling much better today!
