Skwakss
I got a 12 week old border collie pup about a week ago. He has had great behavior in most areas and has bonded strongly with me. I walk him a fair amount every day and do a few training sessions a day (Quarantine is fun) but I'm worried about a few issues. He has a bit of an issue with what I believe is a separation anxiety. Velcro does not entirely fit the situation, as he is not necessarily attached to my ankles, he runs around, explores, and plays as long as he knows where I am. The biggest issues I have is whining when I leave. He cries a large amount if I have to crate him to run out for an errand or do a important task that he can not be around for. He is known to whine even if I leave him with my parents or friends and I leave for just a few seconds. The issue mainly seems to be him not knowing where I am and worrying when I leave. Is this an issue that I should be worried about and if so what can I do to work on it with him? I have no plans for him being alone for large periods of time all the time but I want him to be comfortable with being alone on occasion and not cause issues to neighbors with his whining. Any advice for the situation?
