Anyone got a rock chewer?

Is she missing vitamins or just gnawing on rocks? We've been pulling rocks out our new pup's mouth for a few weeks now. We'll see the vet soon for Cal's allergy check up so we'll ask them then but for now, any advice?

 

I don't want her to crack teeth or eat them, but she happily snags every single stone or pebble she encounters and crunches away.

My puppy has a rock obsession which now he is 8 months old is fading, but I do still find him with an occasional stone. All we could do is keep taking them from him and giving him an approved toy as the house we live in has rocks everywhere. He still loves chewing on pine cones and sticks.

Darinka had it all. She loved all Inedibles, particularly Rocks. In the dead of winder it was a problem since she repeatedly attempted to smuggle frozen doo-doos into the house thinking they were Rocks. She is not doing it any more. But it was hard work with her.

As with puppies chewing on anything inappropriate, it'll require training -- taking the inappropriate items away and replacing it with something permissible. . . . and lots and lots of persistence and patience.

 

But no, it's not terribly uncommon.

When Juno was young she searched for rocks in the yard to chew. I removed as many as I could but eventually she just grew out of it.
