diane allen
I recently learned something (that might be 8 or 10 months old, but new to me!) that might be of help to others. There is a new test that IDEXX (and possibly others, but not, I believe, your local vet's lab) is doing as part of a CBC called SDMA. It is a form of an amino acid, and is useful in detecting early kidney disease - much earlier than other indications. My almost-10-yr-old dog recently had some problems (excessive drinking/peeing), and this indicator came up just a tad high. So, it is something we will watch carefully, adjust diet as needed (not yet), and probably test every three months or so. I'm guessing any older dog should be getting this test included regularly. Here is IDEXX's website info on it: I CANNOT GET THIS TO WORK. However, Gentle Lake's link below does work. Frustration.... (Hope that link works....I had to type it in and hope I got it right!) diane
GentleLake
Firefox is telling me the website's not secure. "The owner of www.idex.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website."
diane allen
Well, heck, that's cuz I didn't spell IDEXX with two Xs. I have fixed the link, so hopefully it works now! (If only I could cut and paste web addresses.....why can't I??) Sorry. diane
GentleLake
Hmmm. Still getting the same message. Let's see if this works: https://www.idexx.com/small-animal-health/products-and-services/reference-laboratories/kidney-disease.html
diane allen
Yours worked. Not sure why mine wouldn't - maybe it couldn't be "edited" (when I tried to put the second X in). Sorry for the hassle! diane
GentleLake
Maybe there was a second typo? I did a search, then copied and pasted the URL.
