simba
A placebo effect is the perception of feeling better due to treatment, although that treatment has not had a therapeutic effect. Famously, placebo effects may make you feel better when your actual illness is the same or has worsened, which may prevent people from realising that what they're doing isn't working. Animals can't have it explained to them that they are taking a medicine to make them feel better, but animals aren't the ones who need to have the placebo effect. Owners, and veterinarians, are both subject to the placebo effect when evaluating animals (40% reported in the article). http://www.whole-dog-journal.com/issues/17_9/features/Your-dog-and-the-placebo-effect_21039-1.html?pg=
