Lana
How do they mark sheep to know whom they belong to? Ā In the US on the range land it is not un common for cattle or sheep to mix a little bit. Ā Great care is taken to ID sheep and cattle for the reason of theft as well. Ā Cattle are branded and ear tagged and many have ear notch markings that have been passed down on ranches like brands are. Sheep have ear tags and paint brands. Riika
Iceland = ponies, sheep, dogs. Sounds pretty much like the perfect working vacation to me. I agree! Actually, we have two icelandic ponies. They are such awesome horses.
Smalahundur
Haha, donĀ“t tell an Icelander to his face his horse is a pony, they are kind of sensitive about the size of their horses (which of course are ponies ). The sheep have ear notches which are very traditional, and modern eartags. You have to have do both. All sheep are registered.
Gideon's girl
Any "pony" that can carry a full grown man and be expected to tolt away the day is a horse in my book!
Riika
Yeah I know. I think of them as horses too but I realize according to their height, they are ponies. Haha, donĀ“t tell an Icelander to his face his horse is a pony, they are kind of sensitive about the size of their horses (which of course are ponies ). One of ours is 21 and still going like a colt. Tough little animals they are.
