Getting a dog used to training indoors

Recommended Posts

She is fine with just walking around the store most of the time. Sometimes the carts or the fish tanks scare her. Mostly it seems she is slower to respond to my commands; she is also much less enthusiastic. Occasionally we turn corners and she becomes frightened (she does this commonly near the dog grooming area-could she be smelling the other dogs fear?).

mickif- Thanks for the advice. I think we will just practice on loose lead walking in the pet store for a while.

mickif- We mostly train outside in various locations. On hot days, we train indoors.

Pam- I will look into that. She deals fine with distractions outside. Perhaps distractions from food and toys are more alluring than squirrels, other dogs, or birds outside.
