vickim
Yesterday I had to take Whisper infor her last appointment at the vet. I did not want to, but she was no longer even able to stand, and when I tried to pick her up, she tried to cry but could not even whine. She refused all food and while she drank a bit, she was too tired to keep trying. I know it was the right thing to do, but it does not make it easier. The house is so empty without her. DH is all for getting another dog right away, but I refuse to consider it. Yes, I will get another senior female at some point, but not right now. Unless there is some needy dog out there that needs to be placed immediately...she won't be my sweet girl, but I can loe another dog.
jfaircloth
I'm so very sorry for your loss. She was lucky to have you. I understand that you don't want to get another dog right away. When we last went through that, my husband wasn't ready for several months, but I was willing to wait. And the dog we ended up with was definitely worth waiting for. You are in my thoughts. gcv-border
I am so sorry for your loss. I think that Whisper would want you to give another dog a great home, just like you did for her - but you will know when the time is right. aljones
I am so sorry for your loss. Whisper is fortunate to have had you to care for her and make decisions that were in her best interest. DH and I also spend a lot of time "negotiating" when we both feel ready for another dog--we always seem to be on very different schedules in that regard. But for now I hope your memories of Whisper bring you comfort.

bcnewe2
RIP Whisper, feel no more pain and be young again. We just lost our forever heart dog Jazz this spring, she was 16 and was like your Whisper when I took her to be PTS. The hole that was left in our hearts was/is huge. She will always have a special place in our hearts. The hole is quietly filling with wonderful memories that don't include the pain that was her last days. Stay true to your heart and Whisper but know that someday in your own time you will have room in your heart for another. Not the same, but love is grand and comes in many little furry bodies. Hugs to you and your DH
Jeri Jessee
So very sorry for your loss. Had to have my Reno boy put to sleep last year at 15. Never thought I could love another dog the way I loved him but Maggie has helped with the healing. RIP Whisper.

rushdoggie
I've always thought that you can't replace the dog in your heart, but you can squeeze that hole a little smaller by making room for a new friend. When you are ready, some dog is going to be very lucky. Run free Whisper, and gentle hugs to you.
urge to herd
So sorry to read this sad, sad news. Run free with no more pain, Whisper. You'll know when it's time to get another dog. You might have doubts, but the stronger inner voice will 'whisper', 'It's time' or 'This one'. As hard as it is for us to let them go, it's the kindest thing we can do. KrisK
I'm sorry to hear about Whisper. She will always live in your heart. A friend gave me this when I lost my Jazz.... A PARTING PRAYER Dear Lord, please open your gates and call St. Francis to come escort this beloved companion across the Rainbow Bridge Assign him a place of honour for he had been a faithful servant and has always done his best to please me Bless the hands that sent him to you for they are doing so in love and compassion freeing him from pain and suffering Grant me the strength to not dwell on my loss. Help me remember the details of his life with the Love he has shown me And grant me the courage to honour him by sharing those memories with others Let him remember me as well And let him know that I will always love him And when it’s my time to pass over into your paradise please allow him to accompany those who will bring me home Thank you Lord for the gift of his companionship and for the time we’ve had together And thank you Lord for granting me the strength to give him to you now. Race with the wind, Whisper...
