Jim Kling
Good news. But can people PLEASE get tags for their pets with owner name and a phone number? It baffles me that people don't do this. I stop to help loose dogs whenever I can and it seems they hardly ever have tags anymore, which leaves me only the option of calling animal control. Big second on that one. When Tommy got away on the 4th of July I would have had her back in an hour if she had tags on. Instead I went thru an agonizing 24 hours before I found her. I just went down to Petco and they have a tag machine. It cost me $7.50 and took me about 10 minutes. Mary
Adriana
Tags are great, but they are not all created equal. Sul abuses his tags, badly, so I can't and won't buy anything regarding ID at petco - I mean, he can scratch off a petco tag to nothing in a month. Up here LOTS of dogs have tags - they just don't have anything on them anymore... The best place, IMHO, is Boomerang Tags. Why? Because they have stainless steel tags that take quite the beating, and SS collar tags that DON'T jingle, fall, or fade - something Petco's tags don't compare to. I have a collar tag and a regular 'jingle' tag (as I call them). He's getting microchipped next time at the vets too...
nancy
Chuck riveted Fergie's tags to her collar. And, when we rented a place at the beach or in the mountains, we made a tag with the contact information there to add to her collar. And she was microchipped. Heck, even Maggie D Cat is microchipped. And she believes that the only safe outdoors is the screened porch. Last time I tried to carry her outside, I got scratches on my forearm and holes & black-and-blue on my upper arm. A car started out of the garage across the street (2 acres) away.
Kelleybean
One thing that I like about the "jingle" tags is that anyone can see them from a pretty good distance. If a person can see that a dog has tags on their collar, they might be more inclined to stop. I have heart shaped jingle tags and have my phone # stitched on the collars just in case the tag falls off.
