Chaser
My second BC called Mango is 30months (2 and a half yrs) and I'd love to teach her to weave. She is however totally different in temperament to my first BC who snapped the trick after just 15 minutes. I cannot seem to get Mango to focus! She pulls at her lead, barks at me in excitement and drives me nuts! Any help/guidance will be appreciated!

brndlbc
To better give us an idea of what is going on, how are you trying to teach the weaves now?
Root Beer
Is it the weave poles specifically that are stimulating this response, or do you see this with other pieces of equipment, too? If so, you might want to consider doing some work to help her settle down and focus since she will need to be able to do that to run Agility. Control Unleashed is an excellent program for teaching the dog those kinds of self control skills. You can find info about the book on Dogwise or the Clean Run website. As far as the weave poles go, once you have her head in the game, you really have your choice of methods. Is there one that you have used before or that you have seen others use and want to try? I like starting my dogs on weaving with the 2 X 2 method, and that might be worth looking into.
SecretBC
It might help if you took the cone off her head. I'd love to know what method you used to teach your other dog to weave in 15 minutes! Secret was independently weaving 6 poles in 6 days using Susan Garrett's 2x2 program and I thought that was pretty good. Other people prefer channels or weave-o-matics. It's really a matter of personal preference and how your dog learns.

border_collie_crazy
lots of people use 2x2 methode with success, and is pretty much the only accepted methode in my area...3 of our dogs had no issue with the 2x2 methode, but it was worthless for both of my BCs, they didnt get it at all, when I eventually learned channel methode(the agility clubs here litterally do not allow any methode exept 2x2..at least they didnt at the time, but this was like 8-9 years ago) I tried it at home and it was like a light flicked on and they FINALLY understood what they were supposed to do lol of coarse by the time I did this I wasnt with any clubs or competing anymore lol
