Lewis Moon
Anyone make a shepherd's whistle wider than 1 3/4 inches (~4.5cm)? I'm training Cerb with a whistle and, well, the fingers in the mouth thingy just isn't going to happen after handing out a few treats. I'm a big guy and the plastic Boulder Bluff whistle just seems small in my mouth. I can get tones but I can't seem to keep the whistle in one place in my mouth. Sue R
Check out the whistles at www.bordercollicsanonymous.com - they carry a selection in different materials and you may even be able to get one "customized" for you in terms of size. They are great to work with and the customer service is excellent! Good luck!

So, I am not sure if any of the buffalo whistles or any others are wider than that. Kathy

Smalahundur
Have you considered making your own? The one I carry was made for me by my neighbour, he knows nothing about whistles but I made a prototype for him from plastic, he imitated it in rust free sheet metal. As he handed over to me he said he was sorry, it didn´t work. He was rather suprised when I showed him it did... As you have a plastic whistle you wouldn´t even have to make one, just find someone with basic metalworking skills/equipment, and have him make a similar whistle a bit wider. Lewis Moon
I'm thinking of doing just that if I can't source one soon. It doesn't look hard but I'll have to find the material. I'd like to make it out of plastic but I'll bend aluminum if I have to.
juliepoudrier
The folks at Bordercollics Anonymous will customize whistles, so you should be able to work with Rob to get one that works for you. J.
