Izzysdad Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Hey Gang, Since Zoey seems to have no practice on stairs her entire life and my house being from the 1800's the stairs are quite steep. I've tried shelf-liner but that doesn't stick well enough. The stairs of course are wood, and she'll occasionally lose her balance coming down, and end up hitting the wall. She hasn't hurt herself yet, but it's only a matter of time. Any thoughts on something that won't ruin the stairs but will help her not kill herself? Sleeping downstairs isn't an option as she is my shadow, and where I go, so she does. Thanks! Tim
Ms.DaisyDuke Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Do you think a cut up yoga mat would work? They seem to be pretty skid proof. We have all tile/hardwood, so I cut one of mine in half and I use it for indoor training because the dogs have a hard time keeping their back feet from spaying out when they are sitting.
Star Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 What about an old fashioned (rug) stair runner. Lots of options for securing it and can even use old fashioned stair rods: http://houseofantiquehardware.com/s.nl/sc.13/category.138/.f Good luck!

Liz P Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I once saw no slip carpet sections made for stairs in a hardware store. They were pre cut and had some sort of adhesive on the bottom to keep them in place. I believe they were made to be installed and removed easily. Those could work for you.
