judedog
We got Jude from a shelter in 2008 and they estimated him to be about 1 year old, so now he's at/closing in on 4 years. When we first got him, he had a spot on each front knee that was bald and looked to be scarred. Not a big deal, never bothered him. Well, recently, he's been balding on his belly, right on the center line right in the middle. It's been getting a bit bigger and bigger. No skin irritation, no reddening. He does do the whole "butt in the air, head on the carpet, and drag his face" thing, and his belly does hit the carpet, but he's always done that (usually when he wakes up and after we take the gentle leader off his nose). I'm not too concerned, but just curious if anyone knows what might be going on? He lets us pet his bald spot and touch it, and it doesn't seem to bother him at all. Thanks Guys! KrisK
There may be some connection with that and his paw licking...possibly an allergy?
bcnewe2
Mine all have winter itchies. Raven one of my senior girl is suffering horribly. She has a little bald spot over one of her eyes. I know it's from all the scratching she's been doing. I'm giving her benadryl to help her feel better, it really is helping.
judedog
Jude had a vet appointment today to register him since our move here from Utah and get his shots. Talked to the vet, and low and behold... it's nothing. Just us not thinking. We're in an apartment, but he goes tomy in-laws house sometimes to hang out, and they have small dogs. Small dogs bring smaller dog doors, which brings about problems for bigger dogs. Such problems like dragging their belly when they go out and makes bald spots on their bellies. At least he's not self conscious about it.
KrisK
Glad to hear it's nothing serious - better to be safe than sorry!
