Need help in the Seattle, WA, area please

Recommended Posts

I need some help. I was contacted tonight by someone in Seattle, WA, who picked up a dog whose microchip was traced back to me (Starfish). I have checked every female dog's file (she said the dog was a female) and the number I was given does not match any of the numbers that I have in my files. And yes, we also checked the male dogs' files, to be safe. The woman is willing to hold onto the dog while I try to figure out who the dog is and who she belongs to, but I could use some help from a more local rescue, since I'm in FL. I asked her to take a picture of the dog and email it to me, but she says that she doesn't know how to do that. So, I asked her if she could go to my website and see if she recognizes the dog from the "Happy Tails" page and she said that she would do that when her husband got home. I would really like help from a local rescue that could go see the dog and take photos to send to me, so I can try and figure out who this dog is and who it belongs to, and make whatever arrangements I need to make for the dog.

If you can help or know someone who could, please email me at mary@starfishbcrescue.com

Can the microchip folks tell you when the dog was chipped? Maybe that will help you narrow down who she might be.

We are trying to figure that out. I called the microchip company but they didn't have a lot of info. They said that I would have to call the company that I actually bought the chip from and they gave me the lot number to help narrow the search. I called the company that sold me the chip, but all I could do is leave them a message, which I did. I'm pretty sure, based on the chip number that this dog was microchipped in 2007. I'm really hoping to get a picture of the dog. That will help so much for trying to identify who it is, We've combed our files and none of the numbers match.

I just received an email that this dog has been reunited with its owners. Big thanks to Janet with PNWBCR for helping me solve this mystery. It turns out that this dog was not one of my dogs. It was a purebred Siberian Husky that was purchased from a vet in Portland, OR. My next step is to contact Avid and make sure there are no other chips mistakenly registered to me and that the ones that I've registered are correct.
