Donald McCaig
Dear Doggers, Sheila Grew founded Working Sheepdog News in the late 1970's. Matt Mundell had published a little periodical previously but Grew was Barbara Carpenter's friend and WSN was the first high quality consistent Border Collie publication. One of the features was Grew/Carpenter's "Key Dogs" series which centered on those dogs whose abilities were reflected prominently in trial dogs of the day. Some of them seem as impressive today, others less so. Dr Grew published a 2 volume compilation which is today quite rare. It was reprinted in a single volume in 1993 by the Heritage Press and even this edition is scarce. I see one copy listed on Bookfinder for nearly $300. It isn't on Google Books. Pam Wolf
If they are worth that much I wonder how much some of my older books are worth!
