gcv-border
I love the crouch illustration. It's interesting that Lad is an all black dog. I will be interested to hear what you think of the book. Great historical find! Jovi
geonni banner
Actually, in what I have read so far, the dog has been described as having "a white shirt-front." But then, in "Lassie Come Home" Lassie is described as "Sam Carraclough's tri-color Collie." And I've never seen Lassie portrayed as anything but a sable - even in books that were published before Lassie hit the movies or TV. ETA: I finished the book today. Quite enjoyable, with a sheep dog trial at the end.
