Laurae
So I just fed the dogs their dinner. Tonight was chicken backs and elk, like they've had hundreds of other nights. And Sophie is lying down on the living room floor. The other dogs are outside or in the kitchen. Suddenly, I hear some gurgling and spitting sounds, very loud, so loud I thought it was coming from outside. But then I noticed it was on about a ten-second cycle--that is, every ten seconds I'd hear the gurgling noises. They'd last three or four seconds and go quiet again until ten seconds later, when it would start again. And it was actually coming from Sophie's gut. It lasted about five minutes, after which she got up and went to get a drink before coming back. All is quiet now. She didn't seem to be in any discomfort. What the heck? Is this just normal digestion sounds that I've somehow never noticed before in any of my five dogs?
juliepoudrier
Kat gets very loud stomach sounds on occasion, though not related to any particular type of food. The other dogs *very occasionally* will rumble and gurgle, but Kat does it fairly often. I used to worry that it meant imminent poop-splosion, but now I realize it's just her.... J. Pippin's person
The exact same thing happened with Hamish about a week ago. Loud gurgles every few seconds-though in his case it was before and after eating. It was so loud that it woke me up (and I sleep with earplugs).. I was sure he was going to have explosive diarrhea. But he was fine and it hasn't happened again. Their food was exactly the same as always. It was totally weird.
