ABCA trivia question

Recommended Posts

Who did the artwork of the dog in the ABCA logo used on the website and on pedigree/paperwork?

Was the dog based on or inspired by a specific dog, and if so, who? I thought I remember hearing that there was a particular dog (maybe moreso a specific photo of the dog), but I don't remember who.

Hi Megan,

I don't know the history of the ABCA logo artwork, but that dog looks like the same dog on the History page of the ABCA website ( http://www.americanbordercollie.org/History.htm ) labeled as "Zac" ABCA 1.

That would be Dr. Leroy Boyd's Zac ... first dog registered with ABCA. He wrote the program (or maybe his son was the "computer guy" ... it's been a few years :@) for the ABCA registry.

Zac was sired by Raymond McPherson's Zac (again counting on the "memory" which isn't as good as it use to be :@). One thing I do remember is he was a really nice dog :@) I always remember dogs better than anything else!

Thanks, Nancy. I searched but all I found was her name in some pedigrees (mostly associated with Imp. Glyn) and a children's author in NC. Was curious about other Border Collie art, if she'd done any. Thanks again to all.

Megan, She had in the past done some commision art. Ill try to find out her contact info if youd like to inquire about it...
