Root Beer Posted July 8, 2010 Report Share Posted July 8, 2010 It took a full 3 months before I saw the full effects of the clomipramine with Dean, although I did see some effects pretty quickly. So, even if you think it isn't helping, do give it time. I also get the generic from a regular pharmacy. I get it from Wal Mart. It's much more reasonably priced than the brand name stuff. moabams Posted July 8, 2010 Report Share Posted July 8, 2010 My dog Aspen is on both fluoxotine (generic Prozac) & clomipramine every day for his severe obsessive-compulsive shadow chasing. He's on the lowest dose of clomipramine (25mg daily) and I pay just over $16 for 90 capsules. We don't have a Wal Mart close to us so I haven't compared prices with them, but the other local pharmacies I checked with ~3 1/2 years ago didn't stock it (since its a pet med) so I get it from drsfostersmith.com. The higher doses do cost more (50mg shows 90 for $27), but that's way cheaper than Clomicalm. FYI--Clomipramine comes in 25mg, 50mg, & 75mg capsules while Clomicalm comes in 5mg, 20mg, 40mg, & 80mg tablets which is probably why your vet told you to give 40mg.
