Allie Oop
Sorry to hear he's still hurting. It's best to have it checked by a vet, as it could be a number of things (and sometimes the problem seems to come and go). Allie had a soft tissue injury when she was about 9 mos. or so and we had to do crate rest and no exercise for two weeks (two very L O N G weeks). Two more weeks of limited exercise and then only on a leash. Her problem always seemed worse at night or in the morning, because she was stiff from sitting or sleeping. Hope all goes well. Betsy
You can give him aspirin for pain. I believe it's 10-20 mg per lb. Start with the 10 mg per lb and increase it from there if he needs more. Preferably it will be buffered, not plain or enteric coated. (The enteric coated won't hurt him, but it may just pass through w/o being digested.) Also, give it with food.
Beth G
My old vet advised me to give my dog Ecotrin. Not sure about dosing. But your vet can help you or there's info online about it too.
Meg's mum
Metacam. We are having the same issue with Meg. We gave her light duty under doctor's orders for a week, then medium duty the next week. She returned to normal after a full light duty week, but at the end of this medium duty week my daughter says she is favoring her leg again. We just returned from a week away. Metacam has a luer syringe to meter the dosage by weight of dog. You splurt it over their food or in their mouth. Its an analgesic and anti inflammatory normally prescribed for arthritis, but works for lots else.
