good vibes for Misty please!

Recommended Posts

Misty is going in on Monday(19th) to have one, possably two, of her Canines pulled. until then she is on soft food and anti-biotics. yup. what did she do? she broke her damned tooth! I dont mean a little bit I mean she broke one of her canines vertically and almost totally off  vet said it happened several days ago and was quite condisending about it, like she was accusing us of lying and how dare we not notice sooner because apperntly its badly infected. great, but she was eating fine, showing no signs of pain and had been chewing bones aggressivly for the past several days, so why in the world would it occure to us that she broke a tooth? :D I only noticed this soon because of the way Misty and I woke up I happened to catch a glimpse of her mouth with her above me(so I actually saw her upper canine, where as in normal positions when her mouth is open I only have view of her lowers) and I saw it looked off, so I sat up, grabbed her mouth and studied it, relaized what had happened and promptly took her to the vet as soon as it opened. this is her second surgery in under a year, she was just spayed in April and wound up on Anti-biotics then too because she turned out to have been developing Pyometria. so she is now once again on the same anti-biotic and going in for yet another surgery. soo good vibes for Misty please! and perhaps some advice about how unbridled enthusisum for EVERYTHING when your a senior doggie is not the greatest idea in the world!

You've got 'em. Maggie sends Misty her sympathy - broken teeth SUCK! Maggie's was a large molar, apparently they are much more traumatic to remove than canines due to the multiple roots, so hopefully that bodes well for Misty's tooth. Maggie was raring to go back to chewing within a few days and I had to keep an eagle eye out for her trying to chew too soon.

thanks guys! Misty was a little confused at suppertime lol I feed raw, and dont have a meat grinder, and since Misty can only eat soft right now...well I handed out turkey to everyone else, and Misty was standing at the cornor of the stove with her lip lifted up and staring at me with this look of utter confusion when I put the tray back in the fridge without giving her a turkey bone! I made her a mushy mix of salmon, sour cream and olive oil for supper instead. she is funny about the meds..you can tell she remebers the bottle from last time, because when I took it out to give her her first dose today, she took one look at the bottle and spun around and hid around the cornor!

Misty is back from the vets :D all went well I assume, they didnt call after the surgery and I couldnt call from work, then when I picked her her up, the lady was real sour, she just grabbed her file without a word, had me pay, offered nothing about how she did and gave us zero after care instructions, had to pry info out of her..she never even answered the question as to how it went just mumbled through the writing on sheet that said what they were doing in the first place. then slowly offered us some vague aftercare after we asked. so all I know is that the second tooth is fine, just the one was pulled and soft food for the next 3-4 days and continue her antibiotics for another week. she is kind of a wobblygook right now lol she's walking around looking like she's drunk

Glad Misty came through just fine, but I'd be a little concerned about the treatment you got at the vet's. If they were that cold with you, it would make me wonder how they interacted with Misty. You should at least mention her attitude to your vet.

Happy to hear Misty is doing just fine.

I have to agree with the concerns that bc4ever brought up about how you were treated. That shouldn't happen and it would definitely make me wonder about how my dogs were treated.

Even though I can sometimes tell when my vet(s) and/or staff may have had a trying day, they are always polite and compassionate with me. If they weren't, I would mention it to the vet as I'm sure that is not how they want their customers treated or the image they want portrayed.

Hope Misty continues with an easy recovery.

I held back on saying anything about the treatment you received when you paid the bill. I don't know why, because stuff like that ticks me off, but I have to go along with what others have said. No matter what the reason, you should have been treated more professionally when you were there paying your bill and picking up Misty. You have every right to ask questions and be informed of how her surgery went. I hope you called and got the information that you're entitled to, and mentioned something about the lousy "customer service" you received at the desk.

And I hope she's better today.

ok, everything went fine, they x-rayed all her damaged teeth, only the one was a problem. I am not too worried about the womans treatment of Misty as she was fine with her, petted her and cooed to her etc.. she was just a jerk to us. an apperntly this woman is just a jerk period, this is NOT my usual vet, I dont even like this office I only used it in this case because it was the only one I could get her into on such short notice. however it is the office the kennel I work at uses, and when I commented on this "jerky receptionist" the kennel owners and managers immedietly knew who I was talking about, described her perfectly and said this one woman is just a jerk all the time.
