puppytoes
My 12 year old mix Laska has been on a raw diet for about 2 years now. It has been a great experience: she loves it, is very healthy and i would not go back to kibble. I am however wondering if there are changes in a raw diet that need to be made to accomodate an aging dog, the way you would put a kibble fed dog on a senior dog food. Since getting Orbit, i have noticed that she takes a lot longer to work the bones (not due to pain however). Weight is not an issue as she is probably in the best shape of he life and she is still pretty active for an older gal. So i ask out of curiosity rather than concern. Any ideas/suggetions? P.S. Their diet varies based on what i can get: chicken necks, beef chunks, ground pork (frozen for 3 weeks), turkey, ground bison (occasionally), random fish and an assortment of bones
Rebecca, Irena Farm
I like beef heart for late middle aged/older dogs. Lots of good amino acids for organ support, and a great balance of minerals. I supplement choline (lecithin) and plenty of fish body oil for brain function and anti-inflammatory properties.
