bella_bc_husky Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Does anyone have a great success method for crate training a puppy? We have used a crate since we got Bella, and at first she ABSOLUTELY REFUSED going in there. We worked hard on getting her in there when we weren't around to watch her, and she got better with it... until our roommate went against everything we did for training. Now she hides under our kitchen table when we call her to the crate and won't come out. Once again we have to walk her to the crate, and she hates it - whining and barking as soon as she's in there. Can anyone help with tips on getting her back on track? Quote
Sue R Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Try a search on "crate training" on the boards. It's been the topic of many threads before. I'm sure you will find a lot of advice. We've had some that have training very easily and some that love their crates - others do not train so readily and some just don't like the crate - or at least not the getting into it. Quote

I'm having trouble finding anything specific on 'how to'... maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? Quote
Shetlander Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 I'm having trouble finding anything specific on 'how to'... maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? Click on Search tab, then click more options, then click options, then put in key words crate training and choose to search only topic headings. That should get you a good number of threads. Quote

If I can get it without having to shop around on the internet, I'd love to grab it. Thanks for the tips! Quote

Ms.DaisyDuke Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Here is a good link. Likely similar to the others posted. http://www.arf.ab.ca/learn/trainingtips-cratetraining.shtml I also had issues with my dog and a lousy roommate. She seemed to think that crate training was "cruelty to animals". She ruined A LOT of my training, so I feel for you. Hopefully this new one works out for ya! Quote
