AliciaB
I have cried all day. She got out of the yard (and just minutes after I noticed she was gone) and supposedly this woman was seen putting her in her car at a savastep gas station in New Albany, IN. She has her 24hourpetwatch.com tags with all of our updated information. Why wouldn't this woman call us? Is she stealing my dog? Fae is my best friend and I've cried constantly. Can anyone give me advice? Should I call the police? Fae is the white dog with brown spots in the picture...I'm going down to the animal shelter tomorrow. I love her so much. I'm giving a $100 reward to anyone who finds her. I'm so sad. I never thought this would happen. No one can even begin to understand how much my heart hurts. Alaska
Don't just sit there feeling miserable. There is a LOT you could be doing to help your dog find her way home. Here are a couple of links with good, solid advice: Lost dog search tips Missing Pet Partnership (pet detectives)
mbc1963
I had a feeling with Sam, the pup who disappeared from his LGD duties a few weeks ago, that he would be home safe. I have the same feeling with Fae. Someone who cares about dogs enough to pick one up out of kindness surely would want to see the dog reunited with its owner. And if the kindness thing doesn't do it... what about the greed thing? $100 is a good incentive. (I've often debated how much I'd give someone who brought me back Buddy. It's an interesting question.) I'll be checking this thread all day to see if you hear from this woman! Mary
PSmitty
I'm sorry to hear about Fae. Good thoughts and prayers are going out for her. In the meantime, yes, call and make a police report. Call and visit every local shelter/animal services. Put an ad in the newspaper, put up flyers. Get the word out that she is a loved pet and you want her back. Ancient_Dog
Just my thoughts….I would definitely treat her as lost and not stolen. I would check all the appropriate shelters, rescue organizations, etc. I would post flyers (with her picture) on all the street corners, especially around the gas station. I would go around to all the vets and leave/post pictures of her (and speak to someone at each clinic about her). I would try to get the owners of the gas station to let you post a big picture of her as being the last place she was seen. Mention the reward in all your postings. By doing this you alert the neighborhood to her being missing. Perhaps you will shame the person who picked her up into bringing her back. Maybe that person that has her is waiting for you to get desperate and offer a reward. Maybe somebody will report having a neighbor who just acquired a new dog that looks suspiciously like yours. By keeping your lost dog in the public eye it makes it hard for that lady to keep your dog. If you imply that she was stolen you might cause the lady who took her to become very wary and hide your dog. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers… this is a situation that scares us all. louboo
We live in the same area. I have friends at the Humane Society and Shamrock Foundation - I will ask them to keep an eye out for your Fae. Fingers crossed she returns home safely and very soon.
KrisK
I'm so sorry to hear about Fae. Read the thread about Sam being missing. Follow all the leads that were listed there. Maybe this would be a good "pinned' topic for future reference!
Laurie S.
Maybe the gas station has a video that would have her license plate on it.

bc4ever
Maybe the gas station has a video that would have her license plate on it. That sounds like an excellent idea! Worth a shot anyway, right? Keep the faith!

bcnewe2
I'm the one that had our lgd go missing for 5 days. He was also picked up by someone and dropped at the town vet (not our town but one away). IT's one of the worse things you can go through. I'm so glad you got your dog back and she's safe and sound
