Eileen Stein
This shows Robin French taking her 12-week-old pup Bart (bred by Laura Hicks) to sheep for the first time. By no means do all working-bred border collie pups look this good on their first exposure to sheep, but this is a good example of a well-bred little puppy's instinctive natural tendency to go around behind the sheep and bring them to you with no training at all. Robin's movements are all designed to evoke the pup's natural instincts and help him develop his feel for where he needs to be to keep the sheep together and to her.
