Lenajo
My older dogs were done with National Dog Registrytattoos. The last one to pass with that number was Joey. Haven't seen a tattoo clinic since. If I tattooed now I would probably put "NDR <my ndr # for the pet" followed by "MICROCHIP" The flank tattos are nicely readibly if you keep them clipped back once or twice a year. Joey's lasted for 16 years. I would never do an ear tattoo. I saw too many 1 eared dogs in the research kennels at the vet school when I visited
bc4pack
Back in the early '90s my first narc dog, who was procured from Aiken SPCA, had an SPCA tat on his inner thigh. I'm still not a fan of chips...Still don't think there are universal scanners, are there? And the chips are on as good as the person scanning, IF they bother scanning (long story about a lost Customs dog and county facility...)
