Ms.DaisyDuke
So, Daisy has hardly eaten anything since Saturday. She got sick sat. am twice, I fed her brown rice for supper and breakfast sunday morning. Since then she's hardly touched her kibble and only then when I've put something extra tasty in it. I didn't feed her until late Friday night due to running around etc. so I figured that's why she got sick saturday morning. It is kind of common for her to just get sick once in a while, she's always been like that. What's bothering me is the fact that she's hardly eaten since. She looks sad. Her stomach feels normal to my touch. She still goes for walks and has little energy spurts, but she's just been kind of mopey (sp?). I've had a foster dog for about 1 month and I don't know if she's jealous....do they have those feelings? Or could there be something wrong with her? SoloRiver
If this were one of my dogs I would get her to the vet pronto.
Ms.DaisyDuke
Ya, that's what I was thinking. I just don't wanna be that person who goes in and says "My dog is acting sad". But it's not like her to sulk around like this. If it's not her stomach, could it be her teeth? It's the hard stuff she seems to be snubbing. She'll take anything soft. aussiered
It could be a number of things but the only way to find out is by taking her to the vet!

Also, how old is Daisy? (PS> They do get jealous!) Be sure to let us know what you find out!
mbc1963
My sister's dog and friend's dog both had mopey, sick-acting days last week, followed by diarrhea and a return to normal. We wrote it off as being a doggie flu. Good idea to take her to the vet, though. I do, if I see something's off with my dog. Mary
Shetlander
I agree with getting her into the vet ASAP. You always want to rule out the physical before assuming it is psychological for dogs or people. Barely eating and looking sad (possibly because she is feeling sick) for this long is not good
Ms.DaisyDuke
She got sick again this am, so I am, as I type trying to get her into one of our vets (I have a back-up incase the regular vet is booked) this aft. It's a lot cheaper to have an appointment than it is to just take them in, since both hospitals I use are e-vets. fotobridget > she's 4 and otherwise in excellent health. Hopefully it's just another one of her upset stomachs and some Zantac will take care of it since I am supposed to be going to Victoria tomorrow to visit my dad and brother. Shetlander
So did Daisy get in to see the vet today? How is she doing?
Ms.DaisyDuke
Ah, yes. We got into the vet. There was nothing to alarm the vet, bright eyes, alert, not dehydrated, no pain anywhere, not even a temp. So we have her on an anti-nauseant and something to coat her stomach combined with a bland diet of brown rice for a couple of days. If the vomiting comes back she'll have to go in for blood work. Since this afternoon and some of the pills have started to take effect, she's spunked up quite a bit and wanted to wrestle with bf, so for now, I am going to assume she just eat something she shouldn't have when I wasn't looking. fotobridget
I'm so glad she's feeling better! Libby did that to me once. I was getting ready for work a few months back and the fiance starts yelling (he's a bit of a panicker). I rush in there (wearing just my socks, how's that for awful???) to find 8 piles of doggie...um....expunge. LARGE piles. So much that I thought it had to have been done by both the dogs. But it wasn't, it was just Libbers. And her little belly was hard as a rock. She wasn't done by any means. But she literally hadn't been alone to eat anything she shouldn't have, so I was clueless. But then she continues vomiting, and I hear the sound of "human-retching" as her daddy is VERY weak-stomached (did I mention he used to be a cop????), followed by the sound of a 'man-elephant' dashing toward the bathroom. So after doing clean up and taking care of both my babies, (all while still only wearing a pair of socks, mind you), I was worried. She was being pitiful. Broke my heart. We both work night shift, so we wouldn't have been able to get her in to the vet until morning, anyway, but I was about ready to stay home with her. Fiance wouldn't let me. So I put her in her kennel, and worried all night, terrified what I'd find when I got home. All the while planning on waiting for the vet on his doorstep, at six oclock in the morning when he would arrive to feed the ones he boarded. But luckily, when I got home she was absolutely fine. I still called my vet (45 minutes away) to see if I should bring her in. He told me to give her something (Pepto, I think) and watch her to see how she acted. If she acted fine, then she probably was. Apparently she was just fine. I still don't know what it was she got into. (I have a REAL strong suspicion my little food allergic baby found her St.Bern/Lab brother's food--different kind than hers--bowl and helped herself to the entire contents while i was in the shower, while Daddy, who was supposed to be watching her, was 'napping' in the chair.) She's not had any problems since. But I was terrified--even if I didn't let the fiance know. Of course, I kind of think he suspected, when I wanted to skip work (ruining a perfect attendence record) to stay home with her. Keep us updated over the next few days! desertranger
I'm glad Daisy's OK. We don't need anyone having large vet bills for the rest of the year.
Laurelin
I hope she's feeling better! I had to take Summer to the vet a few days ago and walked in basically saying 'Um, my dog isn't acting normal' and the vet couldn't find anything of course. But you know your dog best and you know when there's something wrong. Once we had to take Beau in 3 times before they found out what was wrong. It was obvious to us something was off and sure enough we eventually found he'd injured himself jumping off something. Anyways, hope she's doing better! Ms.DaisyDuke
This isn't anything out of the ordinary for her actually, well the not eating part was. I don't know what it is...if she finds mystery poo while walking or something else, but usually once a year she'll have a bout like this. I just wish it would happen at the same time as her annual check-up. It would be a lot cheaper that way! She eat her brown rice and ground beef with extra gusto this morning and then proceeded to circle the foster dog waiting for her left overs, which is never allowed, but she likes to try. She looked like a starved coyote! Thanks for all the well wishes! I'll tell her! Bf will watch her like a hawk while I'm gone and is instructed to call me immediately if anything should change.
