bcnewe2
Had to tell you guys about our new puppies. DS and I are going to pick out 2 Akbash puppies this Sat. They are only about a week old but that's perfect cause I think we'll just about be ready when it's time for them to come home. For names...unless they scream at me that they already have names, since we're living in the junkyard soon to be sheep farm, we decided to try to find manly junkyard names. I prefer males but we might be in for a suprise when we get there. Nut and Bolt are the favorites so far. Anybody got any other tough junkyard names for what I hope will be 2 sweet LGDs? For the first time in forever we have highspeed, I'll post some pictures when we get back!
Rebecca, Irena Farm
That's so cool. A friend just brought home a Maremma pup and I'm in serious puppylust, even though we're bringing home a Border Collie puppy in a couple weeks. No namr suggrdtions. Tommy Coyote
I am so jealous. And Nut and Bolt would be perfect. Akbash puppies. How cool is that?
urge to herd
Serious puppy lust here as well. As for names, I like Rotor, Camshaft, Bondo, Cylinder, (Cylly for short) Torque, any car name or style, like Cooper or Royce or Chevy. Pictures MUST be forthcoming. desertranger
I like Rolls and Canardley. Then it would be the same as my car. Rolls down one hill and canardley get up the other.
bcnewe2
Those are great ideas for names. I had thought of car names but was stupidly only thinking american made. There's some very strange sounding car names around here, I need to take a walk through the cars and look. I really like Torque, and Camshaft. So many car type names to choose from! I'll post pics as soon as I get some. I was on puppy waiting list for a BC pup. The breeding might not have taken place but I am still suffering from puppides. Better that I find my patience and wait for the proper breeding of the pup I'd like. So hopefully these 2 will curb my puppides till the perfect working pup comes along. I'm so excited to go see them, I trying to empty my mind of my old LGD's Lumpy and Lonesome. I don't know how any dogs would meet up to those 2. I'm sure these will create whole new spots in my heart!

Soda-pop
what about names from Fat Albert? They hung out in a junkyard and you'll have coolest pop-culture references around! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Albert_and_the_Cosby_Kids
Katelynn & Gang
You'd have to shot me dead before I named a dog Nut or Bolt. They seem to always, no matter what, live up to their names. You'll have one really nutty one and the other one will bolt whenever it gets a chance and you'll be out for hours looking for it. Just some food for though. Katelynn
bcnewe2
Yes Katelynn I've often thought of that when I hear of BC's being named Chase. I was just chatting with my teenage son about not naming a pet something that they could live up to. But didn't think about the Nut and Bolt definitions! I checked out the fat albert names... I liked: Mudfoot, Legal Eagle, Bucky and could probably find others but if we go with what Katelynn mentions, Mudfoot might come back to haunt me and Legal Eagle could present issues too! It's fun to hear others suggestions. I usually let the dogs tell me their names, but DS and I were having fun thinking of junkyard names. Maybe I should name them Clean-up and Hurry-up as that's what I'd like to have happen! I like Carb and Tranie. With all my metal recycling lessons, there's Ferrous and Non Ferrous. But that doesn't sound to orignal. Maybe Copper, Aluminum, Alloy, Steel, Scrap? This is going to get harder the more names I hear or come up with. It might be best if I just let them tell my their names! We start this week, barring snow with the big clean up. It's really exciting to think this mess will slowly disapear! I ordered some chicks yesterday too. They aren't supposed to come in till late next month. They called this morning and had extras from this order if I wanted them....errrr I''m not ready yet! So we'll wait till next month. Better get on the hurry-up plan!
Alaska
An excellent source of the sort of names you seek is the Sarah Palin Baby Name Generator, which was wildly popular just a few months ago. Root Beer
Ha - it just said that Dean Dog would be Barrel McRaven. How 'bout Barrel? Can't wait to see pictures of the puppies!
sluj
Yes Katelynn I've often thought of that when I hear of BC's being named Chase. I was just chatting with my teenage son about not naming a pet something that they could live up to. But didn't think about the Nut and Bolt definitions! Then you might want to stay away from "Scrap" as well. And, well "Tranie" might work in Colorado, but definately would cause some confusion in California. best wishes, Knife Pile Palin

mtnbound
You could go with characters from "Sanford and Son" Sanford Grady Smitty and Hoppy (my favorites - the two cops that would visit Fred at the junkyard) Or, whenever I think of junkyards, I tend to think of old AMC cars: Rambler Nash Pacer Spirit
bcnewe2
Love Rambler and Nash...heck I haven't read one name that I didn't think was cute. Hopefully the junkyard will be gone sooner than later and the LGD's will be my only reminder when I call their names!

martySQ
Jalopy dumper tank hunk wheel many things live in junkyards...not just cars think of what people dump when they don't want to recycle properly. now adays there's all sort of computer parts out there getting dumped and junked too as well as stoves, fridges, file cabinets, old metal desks, cafe tables, ironing boards... bcnewe2
I thought I posted a responce but it disapeared, computer is farting all over the place toight. Excuse this if it come up twice I don't have to think about what people throw in junkyards. All I have to do is walk outside. this has been a dead junkyard for almost 10 years except what other renters threw out the door. It's been here so long that all the organic materials have melted away. All that's left is mostly metal and plastic. There are lots of old fridges and stoves. THere's one in particualr that I really like. It's an old gas burning stove. From the 40's or 50's. Funny thing is the dam stuff it growing on me. When I first got here it was just really gross, as I'm getting the real trashy stuff tossed, the junk is starting to take on a life of it's own. Everytime i go out there I find some other treasure. There are things here that I can tell are from the 40's and earlier. So filled with history. There was a working saw mill here. The equipment is still here. To think back to when it was in operation, is just amazing. THe scrap guy starts tomorrow. I can't believe it's going to go. This place is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen or lived at, it the junk goes, it's gonna be heaven! That and maybe some new floors and window! Jumpin Boots
I've always loved the name Diesel. And what about Auto.
TrishD
I've always loved the name Diesel. And what about Auto. I was going to suggest Diesel, too. I went to the dog track one time (once was enough *shudder*) and one of the racers was a beautiful golden-colored greyhound named Cecil the Diesel. I didn't bet on the race, but if I had, I'd have won. The point... I loved the name Diesel after that.
