Pet Psychic

Recommended Posts

The doggie day care center where Annie goes two mornings per week for fun and games made arrangements to bring in a pet psychic on Saturday, May 2nd. Regulars were given the first opportunity to book some time. Personally, I am a bit skeptical; but DW thought it would be fun, and the price for a half-hour session wasn't exorbitant. Besides, what harm could it do? And we might actually get a look into Annie's psyche, if this person is for real...

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to make this meeting productive? Thanks for your advice.

Watch your body language. Don't give them any hints. If they're anything like the human psychics I got talked into going to, they're as good at reading you as your dogs! Don't react. Make them work for their money! LOL! My friend once had a "psychic party", with two psychics in separate rooms. As I walked into the first room, the woman was smoking. She asked, "Does smoke bother you?" I said, "You should know." And we were off and running! In the end, she declared me "too negative" to read. The second one was a little closer, but they really count on you feeding them the answers they need to make their readings.

I've often thought it might be fun to take Scooter to a pet psychic (emphasis on FUN). Let us know how it goes! :D

I must confess, I called a pet communicator years ago along with several other people who boarded their horses in the same barn that I did. The things that we found out were each consistent with the personalities of our horses along with some strangely accurate descriptions of places that we used to go - this was over the phone. Weird huh? She told me my horse said that he was very handsome and had a great sense of humor, even before I asked a question. He was shown extensively in halter as a young horse (a bay appy with a blanket and spots and a very pretty head - he totally grayed out when I got him) and I always said that he came with a whoopie cushion. I was seriously skeptical and got off the phone wondering what happened to my sense of disbelief.

But to return to your question. Make up a list of questions to ask or you will waste a lot of time trying to think what to ask. There can be a gap between what you ask and what the pet understands, so make sure that your questions are clear and simple. Ask questions that have anwers that require answers other than yes or no. Watch your dog's reaction, I asked one of the cats a question and he turned and gave me the evil stare, he didn' t like the intrusion is what the communicator said. Good luck, and have fun.

Not to be snide, bustopher, but my advice is to save your money. Instead of spending money on a psychic, take Annie to Petsmart and let her pick out a new toy.

if this person is for real...

What would qualify them as a "real" pet psychic?

Yes. Cancel the meeting, stick the money in an envelope and mail it to me. I am sure I can find something much more productive to do with it.

I'm a bit of a skeptic but I have a friend who is physic (or so she says). She is also a Lakota medicine woman, 3rd level blackbelt Aikido teacher and trains horses. She also married my daughter in what I think was one of the best cermony's I've ever seen.

She gives reg. physic readings. She always does me for free everytime we talk. I'm not sure she charges anyone.

I've come to believe we do have some sort of connection. She read Mick when he was undiag. with TBD's. She was right on but anyone could have told me he was having joint pain.

She's also done some reading for a friend of mine's dog. This dog is having major issues with a leg. Vets have not been able to help her up to about 2 months ago. This was an on going issue since sometime last year.

She read this dogs issues quite well. But again, it wasn't rocket sicence, and anyone watching close could tell where his issues were.

But she also told my friend to lay off the dog with all the message and other alternitive care she was having done.

Turns out after more than several months of rehab, the last doc came back saying lay off everything she was doing and let him rest. Hmmmm

So what I think my friend does is sorta mind meld with me. It's like she reads my mind not my future or things that aren't already on my mind. But she's always spot on with what is going on in my life.

she was dead set against me being here in CO or more like she didn't want me to buy at this time. I almost did. But really didn't want to...so again...is she reading what I already know is in my mind?

Here's an example of something she told me that wasn't in my mind. DH was jobless, searching high and low for a job. She told me that she saw a blue shirt. I took it to mean, that he should wear a blue shirt. SO each interview I'd iron his best blue shirt. He finally got a job at a military school. What was the uniform color??? BLUE. Everyone around him was wearing blue shirts. Coinsidence? I'll never know. She doesn't call them coincidences, she calls them Co....incidences.

What ever, I love my friend and we have great times chatting about physic things, indian med. and dogs. So I'll take her as she is.

She does help people get out of funks. She's also a massage therapist. Yummmm the best I've ever had! For that she gets a gold star.

I'd do it just for fun but wouldn't count on learning anything you don't already know. Or like Jodi...send me the check, I'll go back and read all your posts and tell you stuff you forgot!

That's exactly why I'm doing it: for fun. As I first stated, the cost for this particular session is not exorbitant. I have seen pet psychics discussed on this forum before, so I thought it might be an interesting distraction for a half-hour on a Saturday morning. And who knows? I might actually learn something!

There are days I'm not sure I'd want to know what Scooter's thinking!

Does sound like fun though! :D

umm, my friends tell me I'm psychic... I laugh and tell them they have it wrong.. I'm more likely psychotic! And people to whom the creator gave the gift should use it for the correct purposes, not for gaining fame, fortune or power.

I went to a pet psychic once because it was free. She was pretty much 100% wrong but it was a lot of fun! It was at a grand opening of petsmart and we were sitting at her table with my old malamute and my bf's sister came up to pet Yukon and the pet psychic was all concerned "Does he know her?" and I lol'd. Not only was she a terrible psychic, she couldn't even read basic dog body language.

It was fun though because I'm a nerd like that.

Since I have had Cheyenne since she was 10days old, and I have practically been with her all the time, I've always wondered what a psycic would tell me about her. Naturally, I would lie like the devil in church about how long I've had her, cuz I would want to know if they really know.

If all else fails, you've used it as a chance for you to be open minded about something new, and give it a shot, and it's got your dog around one person new.

I've thought about taking Bella, my ever frustraiting GSD, to a pet psychic, becase we have a 'close family friend' who can 'read' animals, however, haven't been able to convince myself to spend the $70.

Bustopher,

I have had experience with an animal communicator. It was a free offer to ask the communicator a question about a pet, and so I did. This all took place via e-mail.

Here's the question I asked: "Can Phoebe tell me what happened to her that scared me so badly when we were out walking with the rest of the dogs last week?"

I left it deliberately vague because of skepticism and also becaiuse I didn't want to "color" any response.

The answer I got back, paraphrased here, was: "Phoebe is confused and doesn't know what happened. Does she have seizures?"

Now maybe this was just a good guess, but if someone had asked me the question I asked the communicator, I'd be thinking more along the lines of a dog running off, getting hurt somehow, etc. I don't think I would have come up with a seizure as being what scared me when I was out walking with my dogs.

FWIW, this is not information the communicator could have gleaned from anywhere as only a few of my friends knew (through private e-mail) and this was the first time something like that had happened.

So was it a good guess? Or did she really communicate with Phoebe, who in turn told her she didn't know what happened, that one minute she was running along and the next she was out of control of her body? <--This latter is what the communicator said Phoebe said.

It's one of those things--we'll never know I guess. I have since talked to this communicator more extensively (over the phone, so no body language to read) and all I can say is nothing she said tipped me over the edge into being a complete believer, and yet nothing she said conviinced me not to believe either. So I'm still sitting firmly on the fence with respect to animal communicators and what they can or cannot do.

I think if you're doing it for fun, then just ask the questions you might have always wondered about Annie. For example, with my Kat, who is very thunderphobic, I'd ask "How can I make her feel more secure/safe during a storm?" No matter what answer you get, as long as it's not something completely off the wall, you can try it and see if it makes a difference. No harm done either way. If there's a behavior of Annie's that puzzles you or intriques you, ask about it. If there's something in her past you'd like to know about, ask. I think this is one of those situations where an open mind is really necessary if you want to enjoy the experience (whether you believe in the possibility of communicators/psychics or not). I mean after all, if you're paying money I think the money would be best spent *maybe* finding out something new about your dog rather than trying to trip the person up by asking hard questions that only you know the answer to. Know what I mean?
