Rebecca, Irena Farm
Oooh, chilly lambs! I've had some nice weather for outside lambing - except for one really cold rainy day. I put the ram in thinking he wouldn't be fertile that early but apparently he's a decent breeder in the heat. He was in fine fettle this year - there were two youngsters out there with him "just in case" and he covered pretty much everything himself. Other than these first ewes, I have no idea unfortunately who's going next other than by eyeballing. We pulled off harnesses and bells and anything that could endanger lives by getting hung when I got sick last fall and couldn't keep a real close eye on things. Eyeballing works, though, since I have all of fifteen ewes left.
mbc1963
Everytime I see new lambs or colts or calves... I'm amazed. You pop out of your mother's body, where you've been cramped and unable to see, smell, or move, and promptly process the whole "vision" and "scent" piece, learn to stand, and understand that you need to take your rear leg and raise it to scratch your chin!! Way faster than the primates. Mary
Sue R
What springy images for a cold winter's day (I realize that they are indoors for a reason)! Thanks for sharing!
