missing border collie

Recommended Posts

The following email, with the subject line "in desperate need of help," was received by the ABCA:

My name is Melissa, and a close friend of mine/co-worker (Ina) has a pure bred, 5 month old, blue merle, female border collie named Reina. Ina and her family are ropers and frequently participate in roping conferences up and down the east coast. Ina's beautiful Reina attended these competitions and other outings at every possible opportunity -- Ina always brought her everywhere she went.

At one such competition this past weekend, in Pelzer, SC, during a 15 minute period of time when Ina had Reina secured to her horse trailer, Reina went completely missing without a trace. There were people at this competition from all over the south east, and Ina is almost positive that little Reina was stolen.

It is an understatement to say that Ina is heartbroken. She was more connected to this dog than she has ever been to another animal. I have made websites on dogdetective.com as well as urgent notices on Craigslist and in the local newspaper, but I just don't know what else to do.

I want nothing more than to help Ina get Reina back, and as I have also grown seriously attached to this puppy, it scares me to death to think that someone may have stolen her knowing she's a full blooded working dog, yet unspayed, to keep her for a puppy mill. The people who may have taken Reina could be ANYWHERE in the U.S.

If anyone has any information about Reina, please either post it here or email me, and I will get it to Melissa. Thanks.

That is heartbreaking. Don't know if this will help much, but I learned the hard way about finding lost dogs. I posted some on my website

ragtimefarmdotcom.

The most important thing I learned was don't give up. Talk to EVERYONE. Get the community involved. All it takes is one sighting. Do you have pictures?

Oh my gosh, this is so sad. I hope the pup is found. Would posting pictures of Reina be helpful so folks could identify her? Maybe somebody suddenly has a "new" pup and she happens to be a BC of Reina's description?

Sending hopeful wishes/thoughts Ina's and Reina's way.
