mbc1963
So, I just pulled a tiny, dead deer tick off Buddy's shoulder. I felt it last night but then couldn't find it again later. Today I felt it and got it off with tweezers, and look what it left behind! Now, all the things I can find online say the rash is rare in dogs. But I'm wondering... is it rare, or do we just hardly ever see it because our dogs are covered in fur? This is so round, so centered on the tick bite, and so very red, that it seems as though it must be the Lyme rash. What do the more schooled people say? Lots of sites say that an ordinary, allergic reaction to a tick bite will produce a rash like this very quickly, and that the rash will disappear quickly, too. Rave
That doesn't appear to be the characteristic Lyme rash, which resembles a bullseye. It appears to be more of an allergic reaction. I've done a LOT of research on Lyme, having a chronic case myself, and the pics of rashes I've seen are much larger and bullseye-like. Do a google image search for lyme rash and you'll see what I mean.... this link might work: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&...mages&gbv=2 I'd just keep an eye on the dog in the coming weeks for any TBD symptoms.
