I was thinking maybe one of my rescues could help in some way. If they are not "cut out" for herding, let them do their jobs as helpers. Thanks for watching!

One of my daughters has autism and our two dogs (German Shepherd and a Border Collie) have helped her, especially to calm her, although I must admit, the German Shepherd stays by her side as she plays outside, while the Border Collie just wants someone to give him a task to perform (she plays ball and fetch with him). Funny thing is, she always draws the Border Collie and includes him in her stories, while the GSD is often left out--I guess it's because she is more interactive with him outside.

I've heard that they are now allowing dogs with autism in there education activities. I think this is wonderful. The need of a companion and the wonders of what a dog can do for anyone with a disability is beyond belief. That is MY goal here. Just trying to bond one dog with one owner- and being it an unwanted dog just makes it that more special.

OK- Off my soap box now.
