diane allen
I do have a vet appt. next week for this guy - for our "annual" which I was going to skip, since he's otherwise healthy as the proverbial horses. Two+ year old male, neutered at 13 months, x-rays said bad hips but he's doing agility and hiking like there's no tomorrow, so at least so far, absolutely no symptoms related to that. Here's the sequence: (starting with day 1 just for this) Day 1: barfed in his crate in the camper; has never done this, doesn't get car sick; and seemed fine before and afterwards. Nothing terribly weird, just garden-variety barf. Got home that night. Day 3 or 4: found one very small turd on the living room floor, normal consistency (not diarrhea). Didn't think too much about it, except, 'huh, that's weird.' Day 5: urinated on his blanket overnight. The blanket was "mussed up" as though he had dug it up - which he does sometimes when 'nesting' - now I think he was trying to cover it up after he found it. It had to have been in his sleep. (My old girl has occasional urinary incontinence, now controlled by meds; and she never sleeps there....) Day 6: went for a 2+ hour hike, relatively flat, lots of water so he wasn't overheated; ate some streamside grass along the way, which he does now and then. That night, he pooped a small slightly soft turd, with lots of grass in it. Again, it was on his bed and he had moved to another spot during the night. Dang, I was tired and didn't wake up. But I don't think he woke up and did it; I'm quite sure he was sound asleep. And he shouldn't have been THAT tired from the hike. That was four days ago, and I haven't seen anything weird since (and believe me, I've been inspecting the entire room in the morning!). Food during this time varied slightly, as he's on raw, and I try to vary the ingredients; but nothing that he hadn't had before sometime. Has anyone ever experienced this, as a very unusual occurence (vs. an older dog with such problems) ?? What else should I be looking for? Any help is appreciated! diane
diane allen
Just in case anyone is still interested in this....the dog has had no further issues. I asked my vet about it today, and he said that the dog might have picked up some viral infection. He's been absolutely fine ever since - competed in agility this past weekend, and other than the usual "I'm not quite old enough to have full brain capacity yet" moments, he's feeling good. No worries here! diane
Tassie
That's good news, Diane. They do like to throw things at us to worry us, don't they.

tualizzy
Reading this thread I thought "ya, that is a little odd", and then.... Since it has gotten colder, Lizzy has been sleeping in my bed, under the covers (not a very tough dingo & a little spoiled). I got out of bed a couple mornings ago, she hopped out too...as I started to make the bed I spotted what looked like a chocolate covered almond...????..... nope, wasn't an almond. She must have let something pop out in her sleep.... in MY bed!!! So the next night Lizzy slept on her own bed, with extra blankets to keep her cozy.
