njnovice
Our rental was a two-story house, with both bedrooms upstairs off of a small landing. The upstairs was the cat's domain, and she ruled it with an iron fuzzy paw: Mick would only occasionally try to flank Her Fuzziness' position up thre, but she would always prevail and he would retreat in shame. Now, we're in a bigger house, but it only has one story. Mick loves the beds. Within minutes after the master bedroom bed was set up, he was jumping on it and then happily settling down with his pig's ear, all excited over this new, huge dog bed. Cries of,"Mick -- down!" work... for a moment. However, when you come home, he meets you at the door looking all innocent, but there is always a large warm spot on the master bedroom bed covered in short black and white fur. We've decided to keep that door shut, and let him and the kitty share the guest room bed -- we can change the bedspread when people visit. Of course, the cat is not thrilled by having her new domain breached by That Thing That Barks.
bcnewe2
I use an old sheet to cover the spreds of the beds. THat way I'm not always having to wash the linens. My mick just found the fouton. He's 5, we've lived here almost 3 years. His spot was always on the floor next to my bed. Now when I say, let's go to bed, he trots off to his own room! Wonder what took him so long to figure it out?! HE won't get on my bed, I think it's to high and he's not into sharing his space with me or the other dogs! Tranquilis
Yet another reason to praise Suka - She'll jump up on invitation, or even (rarely) on her own, but she never stays longer than a couple minutes. I think she's just not comfortable with too soft a bed.

Dal & Mad's Mom
Kirby my first border collie slept with us from the time he got house privlidges untill our 1st daughter was born, then he had to go on the floor per my husband. Since I worked nights the minute my husband would leave the house for anywhere. Kirby would run upstairs and sleep on the bed. We also had an antique bed and he would entertain my kids by running laps over and under the bed. He could turn and crouch on a dime.
