puppytoes
Just switched my 5 month old Orbit and my 11 year old Laska to raw. Orbit is in heaven and will eat anything and everything with gusto. Laska wants nothing to do with the poultry part of the raw diet. She has eaten raw in the past and never liked raw poultry. So i bought ground chicken and thought i could fool her and she didn't eat until late the second day. I do not intend to make her suffer in her old age and so am wondering: How important is poultry? (the guy at the raw food place said 2 days of white meat for every day of red - she loves pork, lamb and beef) What can i do to sustitute for poultry? (i tried turkey-no go and i will try duck tomorrow) I just want to ensure that they get what they need. I am sort of making my own meals for the most part, muscle meat with a little organ meat and just a touch of veg plus salmon oil.
lrayburn
I'm not sure how important poultry is in feeding raw but have you tried cooking it partially and then gradually weaning her to less and less cooked poultry? Ben wouldn't eat chicken but would eat turkey - go figure - but you've already established that she's not a fan of turkey. Ben was also more willing to eat necks and backs than other parts. Have you tried different body parts? Just some ideas. Lisa
