CharlieBoy
Hi I tried a search but did not find anything ,so i hope this hasnt been asked too many times before. My Charlie eats his own poo Is there a way to stop this apart from standing behind him in the garden and getting to clean it up before he eats it? ahoops
Although it is a yukky subject it is not all that uncommomn. How old is Charlie? Can be a survival type behavior to remove evidence from predators like their mum would do . If a bit older can be food orientated, one way suggested to stop it is to put cooked pineapple in their food and it makes their poop less palatable????!@%^ go figger!!!! I am sure there are plenty of threrads along this line
DixiesDad
Heard about the pineapple. Does it have to be cooked? I was going to mix in crushed out of the can.
bcnewe2
no doesn't have to be cooked. My friend used pineapple juice not actual pineapple, so does my daughter. Works most of the time. K~~
workindogs
I've heard of using pineapple. I've used Adoph's meat tenderizer.....a dash over every meal of every dog in the house. I had a youngster that was a long time poop vaccuum.....with multiple dogs, I simply couldn't pick it up fast enough. The meat tenderizer did the job, but all dogs had to eat it. After awhile, I stopped using it and the poop eater started up again so i went back to using it. Eventually, I broke the habit but it took awhile. Ms.DaisyDuke
AWESOME HEY! There was a thread on this in the general discussion a while ago I think. Anyway, it seems that the more repulsive something is to humans, the more fantastic it is for dogs! (you know the dead squirrell roll?!) Daisy will do this sometimes, I have come to beleive she does it when something (another dog?, raccoon, fox, skunk...) has been in our back yard. I have been told that some dogs (especially nordic breeds) will do this to hide their scent. Once in a blue moon, I've heard that it could possible be lack of nutrients in their diet. If you are feeding a good quality kibble (or whatever) I would definately try adding some pineapple, you don't want the kids playing with him after he's chowed down in the garden, that's for sure! Mollie&Me
I've used canned pumpkin successfully. Tastes delicious going in...but apparently not so much afterwards!
