Debbie Meier
Originally Wayne purchased Jake as a pup for himself. Jake proved himself too sensitive and too much dog for Wayne to work with, so I inherited him. Wouldn't you know it, I just get him moved up to Ranch and Wayne steals him back. He's dropping the entry in the mail tomorrow for the Open Cattle class at the Nebraska State Fair (USBCHA Cattle Trial), he said I can still run him in the exhibition duck class (lol...thanks Wayne), and if I promise not to ruin "his cattle dog" I can enter him Pro-Novice in an upcoming sheep trial over in Council Bluffs. We placed 6th on sheep and 9th on cattle this past week, we still have lots of room for improvement, but considering it was just 8 weeks since our first outing in Novice to this past week when we competed Ranch I'd say things have come along quick. I chatted with the Judge after our sheep run, his advice was to change nothing, just give the dog more expirence. After cattle he suggested that I work on making him stay put after I flank him off balance because he is trying to cheat too much back to balance on me, and oh yeah, I need to learn how to handle cattle , I kinda got in the way of my dog more then I helped him . Needless to say, I needed my dog yesterday for a demonstration, went to the kennel and he was gone, Wayne took him with to work cattle, yup, my dogs been confiscated by the other half. Oh yeah, he also told me I can have him back with I have Dottie, his 1 year old ACD ready for the trial arena, this just aint' fair . Back to the drawing board, again... hsnrs
If it were me I'd see my lawyer tomorrow. Also go to the Sheriff's Department and make a formal, written report for their files. No one takes my dog; period! Narita
